A customer was looking for reliable battery cells to replace the aging battery packs in three Mitsubishi i-MiEV electric vehicles.
Each Mitsubishi i-MiEV required 88 CATL 93Ah cells, meaning 264 cells were needed for the three vehicles. The customer ordered 270 cells in total, keeping 6 additional cells as spares in case of accidental damage during installation.
Before placing the order, the customer compared quotations from several battery suppliers. Our price was not the lowest, but after further research into cell grade, origin, and traceability, the customer ultimately decided to choose our genuine CATL 93Ah Grade A cells.

The client is an EV repair workshop specializing in early‑generation electric vehicle refurbishment. Three in‑service Mitsubishi i‑MiEV suffered severe battery degradation from aging original LEV50 cells: reduced driving range, cell voltage imbalance, and recurring battery warning faults. OEM replacement modules were costly and hard to source locally.
To restore vehicle performance, the workshop needed reliable drop‑in replacement cells for pack rebuild, while avoiding common market risks such as relabeled, mixed‑grade lithium‑ion cells.
During the sourcing process, the customer contacted multiple suppliers and compared quotations for CATL 93Ah cells.
Some suppliers offered noticeably lower prices, which initially made the customer question why our quotation was higher.
We explained that our quotation was based on genuine CATL Grade A cells with original factory QR codes. Different cell grades, conditions, and sources can result in significant price differences in the market.
If price were the only consideration, lower-grade cells could certainly be offered at a more competitive price. However, for an EV battery replacement project, we recommended focusing on cell quality, consistency, traceability, and long-term reliability rather than simply choosing the lowest quotation.

Replacing an EV battery pack is very different from purchasing cells for a simple test project. Once the cells are installed inside the vehicle battery pack, their consistency and reliability become especially important.
For this project, we recommended genuine CATL Grade A cells because of their:
✓ Original Factory QR Code – Better product traceability and confidence in cell origin
✓ Grade A Quality – Reliable cell condition for demanding EV applications
✓ Consistent Performance – Better consistency in capacity and internal resistance
✓ Stable Battery Pack Operation – Important when 88 cells work together in one vehicle
✓ Reliable Sourcing – Clear product information and professional battery supply
The customer carefully reviewed these differences before making the final decision.

After comparing multiple suppliers and researching the differences between Grade A cells and lower-priced alternatives, the customer decided that quality and reliability were more important than choosing the lowest initial price.
The final order was:
Of these, 264 cells were planned for three Mitsubishi i-MiEV vehicles, with exactly 88 cells used for each vehicle.
The customer also purchased 6 additional cells as spares, providing extra protection in case any cell was accidentally damaged during installation.
This preparation helped ensure that the battery replacement work could proceed smoothly without being delayed by an unexpected cell issue.
This was not simply an order for 270 battery cells. It was a real EV battery replacement project involving three Mitsubishi i-MiEV vehicles.
The project demonstrates why selecting the right battery cells matters. When dozens of cells are installed together in an EV battery pack, customers need to consider more than the initial purchase price.
Cell quality, consistency, traceability, and reliable sourcing all contribute to a more dependable battery replacement project.
For this customer, the decision became clear after careful comparison:
The customer chose genuine CATL Grade A cells with original QR code traceability—and selected 270 CATL 93Ah cells for three Mitsubishi i-MiEV battery replacements.
